The fashion for ratafia came to us from France, most likely, already in the sixteenth century along with other tinctures. The golden age of these wonderful liquors fell on the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In the "Kurier Warszawski" of August 1829 we can read: "In the old days, when Latin was in fashion, it was rarely possible to do without it, and whether in a private or public profession, the Latin language had great respect. So when they made an appointment, they beat each other, they shook hands with each other, shouting: Rata fiat! (let there be concord, unchangeable consent), and cups were drunk."
Ratafia Kaszubska is a tincture made in a traditional way from ripe cherry fruits and a rich composition of herbs and spices. Requiring knowledge and commitment, the technological process consists in maceration of ingredients in the highest quality alcohol for an appropriate period of time. The resulting tincture, after appropriate sweetening and combination to the required alcohol content, is subjected to the aging process. The tincture left in this way ripens for many weeks to acquire its specific sensory characteristics. Unique packaging using traditional patterns, Kashubian embroidery with specific colors perfectly fits into the natural, unique character of the product.
