What characterises honey from an ancient herb?
Coriander was known and cultivated thousands of years ago. It must be an extraordinary plant if it has survived with us until today and continues to be used extensively in many cuisines of the world, but it also has its uses, for example in cosmetics. Cultivation of this plant in Poland is not very common, hence it mostly comes from China, Russia, Georgia or India. Coriander honey is also not often found, which makes it even more special. It is distinguished by its characteristic floral-herbal and somewhat pungent taste and aroma. Its colour can vary slightly, depending on the coriander variety used and the degree of maturity. Mostly, however, its colour in the liquid state is close to amber, while during crystallisation it changes to much lighter, grey-white and golden tones. This honey is perfect as an addition to meat dishes, salads and marinades.
Coriander honey and its health-promoting effects
Coriander honey is rich in numerous vitamins and minerals - especially vitamins A, C, E, PP, as well as iron and manganese. It is also a source of antioxidants, flavonoids and valuable essential oils. It has a positive effect on the body's overall immunity, and is therefore good for preventing colds and infections and aiding recovery from illness. Coriander honey also has a beneficial effect on our digestive system and will be helpful in maintaining normal cholesterol and insulin levels. It can also be used externally - it will speed up wound healing and reduce unpleasant swelling. However, it is important to note that this honey lowers blood pressure and slows the heart rate, so it is not recommended for people with heart conditions.
