Honeydew honey - what is honeydew?
It is otherwise plant juice taken up by insects feeding on the leaves, branches and needles of trees. It is processed by them, and then excreted in the form of a liquid with a sweet aftertaste (these insects do not digest sugars, satisfying themselves with proteins taken from the juice), and the drops settle on the leaves. Among the insects involved in the process of honeydew formation, we distinguish aphids, maggots and honeysuckles. The sweetness of the honeydew attracts bees, which collect it from the leaves and branches and transport it to the hive. There, it undergoes further fermentation and turns into the final product - honeydew honey. Thanks to the fact that this honey is made from trees located in the cleanest forests, you can smell the resin and needles. Honeydew honey can be divided into two species. This is the so-called deciduous honeydew, which comes most often from linden trees, and coniferous honeydew, usually spruce and fir.
Beneficial properties of honeydew honey
Due to its high content of nutrients and health, honeydew honey is often called "royal" honey. It is an extremely valuable product for human health. It contains 9 times more bioelements than nectar honeys! They come in an easily digestible form, and they are: potassium, calcium, sodium, phosphorus, magnesium and manganese. It can have twice as much glucose as fructose. It is the only one that contains silver, tin, molybdenum and vanadium.
