Also called the league among honeys. Due to the limited access to benefits, it is a rare species of honey. It is characterized by a gelatinous consistency and a high content of easily digestible protein. In the liquid consistency, its color is dark-amber, and after crystallization, the color turns into yellow-orange. It has a strong, natural smell of heather thanks to the content of essential oils and other substances derived from nectar.
It contains a very large amount of growth hormones, neurohormones and as many as forty-seven bioelements, which are extremely easily absorbed by the human body. It also abounds in vitamin B, which is its great asset. The taste of heather honey is bitter and sharp completely different from a typical honey filled with a hint of sweetness. It gained its great recognition as a medicine in diseases of the eyes, heart and digestive system. The properties contained in heather honey perfectly inhibit the process of spreading bacteria and viruses in the human body, facilitate digestion and have a beneficial effect on intestinal peristalsis.
