Cachaca was first produced in 1530, just a few years after the discovery of Brazil. It is a typical Brazilian liquor, made by fermenting and distilling the juice of sugar cane harvested on nearby plantations.
Cachaca 51 is the most traditional brand from Brazil, a market leader for many years, highly praised in many countries around the world. Annual sales amount to 240 million litres making it the second largest in the world. Cachaca 51 has a decidedly more delicate taste compared to other white rums.
Tasting Cachaca involves a Brazilian ritual: the first 50 ml should be poured on the floor as a gift to those not present, only then can the excellent taste and aroma of the drink be savoured.
The most popular drink based on it is the caipirinha with the addition of lime juice, cane sugar and crushed ice.
Taste and aroma: Dry, delicate note of cane sugar.
