Propolis (bee putty) is produced by bees from the resinous substances of young buds of plants (mainly: poplar, birch and alder). Propolis is used by bees to seal the nest, to disinfect it against fungi and bacteria, and to polish the cells of the patch before the mother lays eggs in them.
Biological properties of propolis:
- antibiotic action - inhibition of development and complete destruction of bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoa;
- renewing effect - renewal of soft, connective, cartilage, bone and dental tissue;
-effect on the immune system - regulation of the immune system (immunoregulating effect), m.in protection of the body against infection with microorganisms;
- antitumor effect - inhibition of the development of tissue cultures of human and animal tumors;
- antioxidant effect - capture (sweeping) free radicals, i.e. protection of proteins against peroxidation;
- local anesthetic effect;
- effect on the cardiovascular system - increasing the heart rate, regulating blood pressure, sealing capillaries;
- action on the central nervous system - relaxation of smooth muscles, reduction of spontaneous mobility (sedative effect);
Other activities - hypoglycemic, anti-aggregation, choleretic, choleretic, protecting liver tissue, protecting against ionizing radiation.
Before using propolis, make sure that you are not allergic to it!
We can check this by rubbing the delicate parts of the hand with propolis and observing if there is an allergic reaction (redness, itching).
Preparation of propolis solution:
Place the crushed propolis in a clean dish and pour 76 % ethyl alcohol in a proportion of 50 g of raw material per 0,25 l of alcohol. Stir by shaking for about 2 weeks. Then let stand until the liquid with the sediment clarifies. After removing the propolis solution from above the sediment, it can be kept for up to 6 months.
Recommended intake:
- cold: 40 drops of tincture per 200 ml of warm boiled water in the morning on an empty stomach
-stomach pain: 50 drops per 100 ml of water
