Saaz Mjød is a semi-dry mead, seasoned exclusively with Saaz hops from the Czech Republic. Hops give it a floral-herbal aroma and taste. You can feel the notes of Pale Ale Indians and citrus, as well as a touch of elderberry. Saaz Mjød is over 5 years old, so it's ripe mead: deep and slightly heavier than later vintages. It goes great with strong dark chocolate, cookies, chocolate cakes, etc. Some chefs also recommend it for foie gras, pâtés and dishes containing bacon. The honey comes from Klintrup in the heart of Jylland, an area that is the cradle of the Vikings who settled in Kent, England. It tastes best served at a temperature of 6-14°C.
