An exquisite dry wine from the enduringly popular Puglia region - located in southern Italy. The character of the wine is created by two varietals - Primitivo, which makes up 80-90% of the coupage, complemented by Negroamaro, which makes up the remainder of the wine. Azzurra is matured in two types of barrel - smaller barrels holding 500 litres of wine, and large barrels with a capacity of 6,000 litres.
The intense aromas captivate from the first twist of the glass - delicate cherries and blackberries blend perfectly with touches of spice, including rosemary and pepper. There were also barrel notes - notably vanilla and chocolate emerging ahead of the pack. On the palate, it is rounded, with fine tannin and a juicy, clear finish.
Azzurra will go well with red grilled meats and also with a board of matured cheeses. Silky tannin and low acidity also make it an extremely pleasant choice for gatherings with friends.
