Cheatau Bonfort is a dry wine with a unique charm, coming from the French appellation Montagne Saint-Emilion located in the Bordeaux region. The core of the wine is 70% of Merlot grapes, and the remaining 30% is filled with a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The average age of the vines from which the harvest takes place oscillates in about 30 years. It ripens for 12 months in French oak barrels. The 2018 vintage already shows the richness of its character, but it can reach its full potential even around 2028.
In the glass, the 2018 vintage exudes a beautiful, deep color. The bouquet betrays beautiful floral notes with woody accents. Among the aromas dominate forest fruits, berries, currants with reflections of violets, vanilla and cocoa. The harmonious structure hides silk tannins on a palette of essential structure and breaks through with a pleasant, balanced acidity. A long finish full of barrel accents leaves a long, satisfying experience.
Chateau Bonfort AOC Montagne Saint Emilion, due to its character, will wonderfully enrich dishes based on red meat - including beef steaks or venison. It is also an excellent companion of exquisite snacks - a board of ripening cheeses and cold meats. The wine class also provides the potential for a great development of aromas over the years in the wine cellar.
