A classic of southern Italy, the Primitivo varietal from Manduria, located in the Puglia region, in the province of Taranto. The average age of the vines from which the harvest takes place is around 25-35 years. After fermentation, the wine is split and 40% of it goes into French and American oak barrels for 8 months. This provides the wine with a more mature character and the right harmony of flavour.
Borgo Dei exudes a character typical of the wines of the region. Aromas include forest fruits led by blackberries and hints of spices from the barrel ageing. On the palate, the power of dried fruit with a touch of herbs and spices with a juicy finish full of sweetish accents reminiscent of chocolate-covered plums.
This wine will go superbly with a plate of starters and snacks - including matured cheeses and cured meats. The full-bodied structure and essence of flavour will also feel great with red grilled meats and game. The mild character of the wine also makes it a good choice for a solo tasting or a casual gathering with friends.
